Japan

Recently I flew again to Japan to deliver a motivational lecture. I love Japan, John Lennon convinced me to drop everything & move my family to Japan in, in order to reconnect with spirituality & help to rid myself of Bulimia and my obsession for material wealth. It worked, living at the foot of Mount Fuji, being at one with nature, I left a year later a changed man! I could have easily stayed there but my children were growing and had to start school.

So, I always love to come back to Japan, which I do a number of times each year, however what I don’t love so much, is the flight! It’s an eleven hour flight! I’m a very active person, it’s very rarely that I would be in one place for eleven hours, not to mention the risk of deep-vein thrombosis, but over the years I have discovered that if you’re creative, you can find many ways to exercise on a long flight (especially on a boeing 747, going up and down on the stairs leading to the upper deck), providing you’re not shy, and  I’m certainly not shy, I always say hello to people as they’re stepping over me while I’m stretched out on the floor of the walk-ways…..

I was in Tokyo recently to deliver one of my motivational lectures.

Japan was brought to her knees by the earthquakes, thousands of people lost family to the natural disaster. To a country so well prepared for earthquakes, this was a devastating shock to the people of Japan.

Japanese people are generally incredibly positive, very much long-term focused, and as a nation, Japan is committed to staying strong and overcoming any problems, no matter how tragic. What amazed me, was just how fast the people of Japanwere bouncing back from the devastation of the earthquakes and the Tsunami.

My motivational lecture in Tokyo

I’m passionate motivating audiences with my lectures. It’s often a surprise to people when they learn that my most important skills are not actually my abilities to perform demonstrations of metal bending, fixing watches, reading minds and so on, but my ability to use these demonstrations in order to motivate and inspire.  I have been delivering motivational lectures for decades, and for a wide range of audiences, including children and students, large multinational corporations such as Google, Sony, IBM & Novartis, sports people and US politicians, I call my shows infotainment, delivering inspirational information through entertainment.

I’m flattered that three generations later, young people in Japan still follow the hysteria I created here 38 years ago!
